One-word View: Awesome

My friend says that she has a crush on Matt Damon, but it only arises when she watches him playing Will Hunting. I have tried to get her to see him in other things and am going to tie her down and make her watch Bourne Supremacy's predecessor, then send her off to see the latest installment, because it's great. I like Matt, as he brings a certain intellectualism - - with the exception of things like Stuck on You and Dogma - - to his performances, just like Denzel brings an ease, inner strength to everything he does - - again there are exceptions such as Heart Condition and Virtuosity. You know what I mean?

Jason (Matt) has been living quietly with Marie (Franka) in Tangiers for the past couple of years since initially escaping from the CIA. While he still has not regained his memory, the flashbacks are becoming more frequent and disturbing. But, things quickly get all messed up when Jason is discovered. This forces him to really come out of hiding and he goes after Pamela (Joan) and Ward (Brian) who he thinks are running the covert government assassin group to which Jason originally belonged. The movie was tight and sharp. There were lots of fights and some car chases and no gratuitous sex. You know how I feel about that extra stuff. The story was clever with some nice twists that kept me interested as Jason trekked through Russia and Germany hunting down the presumed bad guy.

Some of the scenes were awesome. There was one in the beginning that juxtaposed Jason jogging on the beach sorting through his flashbacks while Maria simultaneously studies the pictures and notes in Jason's journal, also trying to find answers to help him finally have peace. It was well done. Then, there was this fun fight when Jason beats the crap out of another former assassin with a rolled up magazine. It was quite enjoyable, if you like these kinds of movies. And I do. But, don't go expecting Schwarznegger-Stallone-Snipes-Diesel stuff. It's different, for while this is an action movie, you also get to use your brain ever so slightly.
