As in the first two installments, Return offers some of the best stuff I have ever seen in an action/adventure offering. It was amazing Of course, we continue to follow Frodo (Elijah) and Sam (Sean) as they struggle to destroy the ring. Gollum's trickery begins to drive a wedge between the two friends and it is then that he springs his trap on Frodo. Meanwhile, Aragorn and his crew along with King Theoden (Bernard) battle Sauron's army, only this time there are a lot more of those ugly creatures with more ingenious weapons.
You know, Frodo, really gets on my nerves with that puppy dog look of his. For God sakes!! But, that 's the character, at once seemingly weak, yet possessing the spirit and the fortitude of the greatest warriors. Pippin (Billy) and Merry (Dominic) began to play critical roles in Towers and continued in the final chapter. Those two were so resilient and truly demonstrated the love, friendship, and loyalty that are central to the entire story. But enough of the mushy stuff.
Boy, what battles they have!! It is so exciting!! My heart rate increases just a bit thinking about the scenes. You have to sit down and see this. Heck! Why not have a Lord of the Rings party and watch all three? It would be a 10 + hours well spent!
