MINDHUNTERS (2005)
Directed by Renny Harlin

FBI Profiler trainees try to identify a killer on an island.

One-word View: Pointless

Do not be deceived. Val Kilmer and Christian Slater, the more talented actors of the Mindhunters cast, are barely in the movie. That leaves a mediocre cast; a bit of gore; a sometimes unpredictable, but usually predictable story; unbelievably badly choreographed fights; and LL Cool J’s upper body.

Set on a small naval training base on the Oniega Islands, a group of FBI profiler trainees plus Mr. Cool J learn that their supposed training weekend is really a opportunity for a killer, The Puppeteer, to murder them. As the body count builds, the growing suspicion circulates amongst the surviving potential victims. Anyone could be the killer, but usually the most likely suspect at the moment, turns out to be the next corpse.

The remaining people finally grasp that they have been profiled and that the killer is using their own weaknesses to destroy them. Not surprisingly, they still continue to die because emotions are outweighing logic and trust. There is no need to speak about individual characters as they all meld into one weak tale. Mindhunters is pretty mindless and the killer’s motive reaches new depths of the ridiculous.
