| Confirmed bachelor Brad Allen (Rock) and interior decorator Jan Morrow (Doris) share a party line. The latter, abhors the songwriter who dominates the line with his numerous calls to all of his lady friends. Once Brad sees Jan and decides that he has to have her, he goes to extreme lengths to win her affections, most notably pretending to be someone else, Rex Stetson. Of course, the fact that Jonathan Forbes (Tony Randall) is also after Jan and happens to be Brad’s Broadway producer and best pal only adds to the screwball mischief of this story.
I love the fact that Jan is a career woman, even though the movie does focus a bit on the "revelation" that all women really just want to be married. Still, my fondness of this romantic comedy compels me to watch it probably 4 to 5 each per year. A little obsessive? Perhaps. But, it makes me smile and so it cannot be a bad thing.
Did you know?
Unfortunately, the three stars teamed up again to create practically the same story in Lover Come Back. It was ridiculous because there were few differences and I cannot imagine why they made the second movie.
