The first time I watched this movie, I was late for work because I had to finish watching. I just had to know not only the ending, but what would happen next, from scene to scene. Lucy (Gene) is the young widowed mother who is being slightly harassed by the ghost of a seaman, Captain Daniel Gregg (Rex). They strike up a peculiar friendship and Daniel begins to share his sea tales. In order to support herself, Lucy writes and sells Captain Gregg's stories. In the process, she also falls in love with him, which is an impossible situation. As Daniel is a ghost, he and Lucy can only be together if both of them are dead. With such a poor romantic forecast facing her, Lucy turns her affections to the dastardly scoundrel, Miles Fairley (George) and loses her connection with Daniel. I will not tell you the end of the movie, but let’s just say it is hopeful that you will not have to go to those measures to be with your true love.
