One-word View: Wonderful

More often than not, I am left scratching my head and wondering where some of my movies are when I scour through the latest and greatest film guides. Granted, many of them such as Valley of Decision would not be considered one the greatest, but still they deserve some sort of recognition. So here it is. I recommend this movie for its honest look at social castes, greed, and undying love. Additionally, with Peck, Garson, Barrymore, and Crisp it's worth watching just to see all that talent on one screen.

Paul (Gregory) and Mary (Greer) meet when the latter comes to work in the Scott household. Within weeks the entire family grew to rely heavily on Mary's always candid and clever way of looking at life and handling all that comes with it. While she struggles to combat her growing feelings for Paul - - who refuses to let the social order interfere - - the town battles over the rights of the mine workers and their desire to start a union. Paul and Mary's families are on opposing sides and you know that means some tragedy occurs during the movie. Nevertheless, lover conquers and the predictable ending is satisfyingly sweet to all romance enthusiasts.
